Everything You Need For Your Wedding:

Wedding Reception Etiquette: When to Find the Reception Venue?

Q.

I recently got engaged, but we are not getting married until next year. When should I start looking for a wedding reception venue?

A.

Go ahead and get looking! Normally it's a good idea to book your wedding reception site as soon as possible once you're engaged -- at least a year to nine months before the wedding. If you're planning a wedding during the more popular seasons (summer and fall), you may have to be more flexible about the day you get married to get the site you want -- more couples are choosing Thursday and Sunday. Also, be creative about the site -- if your first and even second choices are booked, look into a friend's backyard, a museum or historical residence, even a theme park! Ultimately, it's all what you and your honey make of it!
