Destination Weddings: Transporting Welcome Bags?

Q.

I'd really love to do welcome bags for my guests, but what's the best way to get them to my destination in the Caribbean?

A.

Shipping welcome bags to your location by mail is always an option, but beware of expensive shipping costs and duty taxes. We recommend enlisting the help of close friends and family to transport bags (keep them small!) to your location. Pack them well in a box and have someone (or a few people) bring them as checked bags. Make sure your volunteers help you pack the boxes so they can answer the "did you pack all your bags yourself?" question truthfully. You'll also want to make sure you bring extra materials with you, as bags, ribbons, tags etc may get smooshed in transit.
