Destination Weddings: What Mailings Should We Do?

Q.

Besides the save-the-dates, what other mailings should I consider doing, and what should these mailings include?

A.

In addition to save-the-dates, you should also send out the formal wedding invitations eight to ten weeks before the actual date -- they act as a reminder after the save-the-date. Other mailings you should consider are wedding welcome packets, sent a few weeks before the wedding, which include information about your wedding location such as local restaurants, maps, weather forecasts, and things to do; and a wedding announcement, which will appear in your local newspaper after your wedding and give a description of your big day.
