Q.
How do we word invitations to a reception only? My fiance and I will be married in Las Vegas and will host a reception the following weekend.
A.
An invitation to a reception hosted by the newlyweds after the wedding day would read:
Sarah and Thomas Moran request the honor of your presence at a celebration of their marriage Saturday, the ninth of January at seven o' clock Rob Roy Country Club Mount Prospect, Illinois
This way, guests will be aware that the wedding itself has already taken place.

I have just the opposite problem. We have a huge church that can fit as many who want to come but the reception site is much smaller. Ang suggestions on how to word ceremony-only invites? I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but our budget is tight.

We also will have a smaller ceremony, the site allows for 100 but the reception allows up to 200 people. The wedding is next May, so I have time but was hoping to not have to change ceremony sites! It was stressful as it was just finding this one. Would like to word some of the invites so they know they are invited to the reception only..

How would you word the invitation if it is a reception only invitation the same day as the wedding? My church is extremely small so the ceremony is family only. The reception is directly following the ceremony

I am wording mine: Together with their families Kristy & Gregory Wish for you to share in Celebration of their marriage, at an adult dinner reception. Saturday, the tenth day of October two – thousand and nine Five O’clock in the afternoon with the place and address at the end. Hope this helps anyone else as we are planning a private ceremony the morning of the reception.
