expert destination wedding advice

Whether you’re tying the knot in Brazil, Bermuda, or Boston, JoAnn Gregoli, who’s been planning destination weddings for 10 years, has the answer. A Master Bridal Consultant (one of only 16 in the world), she’s coordinated weddings for stars of all stripes, from Rupert Murdoch’s daughter to NFL players and Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn DiScala.

Destination Weddings: Attendance Percentage?

Q.

How do I estimate my guest list? What percentage of my initial list will actually attend?

A.

In general, you should expect about a 50 percent attendance rate -- that is, if you invite 100 people, you should plan on approximately 50 making the trip. But this is just an estimate -- some couples have as many as two-thirds of their initial guest list attend their far-flung festivities. Only you two can really judge for how far your friends and family will be willing to travel.

Want to increase your turn-out? Save-the-date cards can make a huge difference -- the earlier you send them out, the more likely you are to increase your attendance percentage.
