Avoid the #1 relationship mistakeShape up for your wedding: 15-minute at-home workouts >
Just got a wedding invitation in the mail? You've come to the right place. We have plenty of tips for everyone on the guest list -- even if you are nowhere close to planning your own nuptials. First, determine your wedding guest prowess by taking our "Are You a Great Wedding Guest?" quiz. Whether you are an etiquette whiz or need to brush up on your wedding manners, our quiz will let you know which area of guest etiquette you might want to work on. Next, let's talk wedding attire for guests. Unless you want to end up on the worst-dressed wedding guest list, you should check out our wedding guest attire decoder to make sure your duds won't make you stick out for the wrong reasons. If you are not sure what to bring for a wedding gift, we have tips for you too. First, we recommend finding out if the engaged couple has a wedding registry. This is a fail-safe way to make sure you get them something they actually want. Next, figure out how much you want to spend. There is no rule of thumb for the total amount (just spend however much you feel comfortable shelling out), but if you are attending multiple wedding events, such as bridal showers or engagement parties, a good cost breakdown would be to spend 20 percent of the total amount on an engagement gift, 20 percent on a shower gift, and 60 percent of your total on the wedding gift. And of course, a heartfelt note to the couple will increase a gift's value no matter what you give.
From what to wear to what to say -- whether mingling with other guests or giving the wedding toast -- here's how to be a great wedding guest.
