Treat it like brushing your teeth or putting on moisturizer before bedtime. Make it part of your routine. It only takes a few minutes but it pays off because what you are effectively doing is eliminating the common excuse of not having your workout clothes with you when you need them.
Here are some items that you want to make sure to pack in your gym bag:
- Running shoes/workout shoes
- Sports bra
- Workout clothes
- Water bottle
- Music/ear buds
- Hair ties
- Lock for your locker (if not provided)
If you plan on showering at the gym, don't forget a fresh change of clothes, a towel if your gym doesn't provide one and all the necessary toiletries.
You could even pack a few outfits into a second bag to keep in the trunk of your car, so that you always have a change of workout clothes.
The Bottom Line
Rituals are important, and can play a huge part in the success of your own fitness journey. Packing your gym bag at night is a simple, quick ritual that pay off in a big way by helping keep you on track.
