Bridalicious Diet: 3 To-Dos Before You Grocery Shop!
Grocery retailers put a remarkable amount of resources into store psychology. The layout of aisles and arrangement of products are both meticulously planned to persuade you to buy as much as possible before you get out the door. Most of the time, the items that pop out the most are the worst for your figure. Fortunately, there are a few common-sense tricks you can employ to ensure you get in and out of the store without blowing your diet.
1. Make a List
This is a no-brainer, but I see clients all the time who have a habit of running into the grocery store to “grab a few things.” This is a sure way to get distracted by retail psychology tactics. Whether on paper or on your phone, there’s something about carrying a tangible list that keeps you focused.
2. Eat a Sensible Meal
If you go to the grocery store hungry, you might as well head straight to the doughnut display. Hunger will tempt you to buy more than you need and to give in to unhealthy cravings. Before you go, eat a sensible meal or at least a snack.
3. Drink a Glass of Water
Shopping while thirsty can be nearly as bad as shopping hungry. Before you hit the store, drink a big glass of ice water. It will make you feel fuller and will keep you hydrated, which means you’ll be less likely to pick up a cold soda while waiting in the checkout line.
The Bottom Line
Grocery shopping on a full stomach will lead to better, healthier shopping decisions.
