Okay, so even if you're not sure who to root for -- Liv (Kate Hudson) or Emma (Anne Hathaway) -- in the new movie Bride Wars, in theaters everywhere January 9, you'll almost certainly prefer one of their wedding day looks over the other. Liv is the type-A personality who wants everything to be perfect; she's that classic bride you see on the cake topper -- it's all tulle and ball gown. Emma's wedding day look is more sentimental (she wore her mother's dress), elegant, and laid back. Here's how to rock both gorgeous bridal styles.
Get Liv's Classic Look
The wedding gown: To get a look like Liv's, look for a dress with sweetheart neckline and a soft organza skirt. A ribbon belt will cinch the waist and complete the look. Tip: Trade out the white sash for a colored one at the reception.
The jewelry: To complement an upswept hairstyle like Liv's, look for pearl drop earrings. Get them with Swarovski crystals for added sparkle.
The makeup: Liv's makeup emphasizes her green eyes with an eye color palette of pinks and plums. If your eyes are blue, try peachy pinks and sandy neutrauls; for brown eyes, go for light browns and golds.
The hair: If you have wispy bangs like Liv's, smooth them to the side by applying a tiny drop of anti-frizz serum to the tips to keep your bangs in place throughout the day.
The fragrance: Finish your look with a romantic fragrance infused with fresh florals and fruit -- think peach, freesia, tuberose, and white hibiscus.
The bridal bouquet: In the movie, Liv carries a bouquet of all-pink roses. Get added color and dimension by asking your florist to incorporate a scattering of red roses to an all-pink bouquet.
Get Emma's Elegant Look
The wedding gown: Emma's dress -- an off-the-shoulder shapely hour-glass design -- is modern yet elegant. To find a similar design, look for dresses with a mermaid silhouette in a soft fabric like silk taffeta.
The jewelry: With such a sophisticated style, Emma keeps her jewelry minimal, opting for simple diamond studs and a tennis bracelet. Get a similar look for less with socially concious, laboratory-grown diamonds or even CZ jewelry.
The makeup: Get lips like Emma's with a red or cherry-hued sheer lip gloss. Find one infused with vitamin E to keep your lips looking full and hydrated.
The hair: To prolong the life of a sleek updo, use a maximum-hold hair spray. If you're not planning to wear your veil after the ceremony, add a vintage brooch or sparkly hairpin to glam up your hairstyle for the reception.
The fragrance: Find a rich perfume to finish off your look -- think lush garden flowers like irises, rosebuds, and gardenias.
The bridal bouquet: Add texture to a sleek style by carrying an all-white mixed bouquet of gloriosa lilies, peonies, and tulips. For a similar look in the fall, think all-white dahlias, roses, and mums.
