Making Your Selection
Grappling with the big china dilemma? Join the club. The debate on whether to register for both everyday and formal sets still rages on. Your mom says you’d be absolutely crazy not to request the fine stuff; your best friend says it’s totally old school to own two sets. So who do you listen to?
Make your own decisions. Of course, you should consider the valuable advice from others, but put yourselves first. You’re the ones who will be using (and storing) this stuff. You might not be hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year, but it might land on your laps next year, and that would be an ideal time to break out the “good” dishes. When it comes to the fine stuff, bone china, as opposed to porcelain, is the highest quality and the most durable.
It’s safe to register for 8 to 12 place settings each with a large dinner plate, a small salad/dessert plate, a soup/cereal bowl and a mug or a cup and saucer.
Ready or not, it’s time to spice things up! Let your table show off your sense of style. Yes, this can transcend beyond your wardrobe! Take advantage of the open stock items and pick and choose your favorites. Nope, they don’t even need to be the same brand. Top a solid white dinner plate with a bright hot pink and lime green floral salad plate.
