10 Ways to Have a Stylish Beach Wedding

From textured linens and succulents to ribbons and flowing fabric, here's your beach wedding style checklist.

1. Use Non-Obvious Beach Decor.

Your guests will get the whole beach vibe just by being there; so don't feel like you have to incorporate seashells, lounge chairs and umbrellas everywhere. In fact, it's totally fine if you make no reference to the beach at all. We love Jenny and Michael's use of rope for a really organic and subtly seaside vibe.

2. Create a Logo

Design a symbol that can be used throughout the celebration, and, again, think outside the beach box. Try lobsters, crabs and pelicans (or some other sea-faring animal that speaks to you and your groom) instead of the typical starfish.

3. Dress the Part

Help your wedding party be as comfortable as possible. That doesn't mean bikinis and swim trunks, rather light airy dresses, khakis and maybe even flip flops.

4. Embrace the Wind

Deck out your decor with elements enhanced by the wind -- not ruined by it. Think ribbons and flowing fabric as opposed to detailed and delicate altar arrangements that you (or your coordinator) will have to worry about keeping together.

5. Beat the Wind

You can't always outsmart nature, but you can try. Weigh down escort cards and programs with natural elements such as rocks or heavy seashells (no fake ones!).

6. Go White

Choose all-white flower arrangements to play up the natural coastline colors (sky blue and sandy brown). The clean, natural look works well in the seaside atmosphere.

6. Decorate with Succulents

The desert plant has a rustic, organic look that's perfect for a wedding on the sand. Pair them with driftwood to enhance that vibe. It'll make for great centerpieces. Or fill tiny pots with individual succulents and let them serve a dual purpose: as place cards and fun favors.

8. Use Post Cards as Save-the-Dates

Get guests in the mood for your big day with beach postcards, perhaps vintage-inspired ones. Buy a bunch of different ones online or from local shops, or print them yourself. Add them to your planning scrapbook for a sweet reminder of the days leading up to your celebration.

9. Incorporate Textured Lines

Muslin and burlap are heavier than most materials (great for withstanding those coastal winds) but elegant at the same time. Step up your tables even further with rattan chargers.

10. Serve a Surprising Dessert

If you think cupcake displays are unoriginal, think again. Enticing Tables in San Diego rents cupcake stands welded to look like real tree branches. (858) 354-8940, EnticingTables.com
