Q How many gowns did you try on before you found "the one"?
I tried on at least five dresses at six different bridal shops, so more than 30 gowns, before I found my Alencon lace dress by Jenny Lee.

Q Did you have to search high and low for your wedding day shoes as well?
I have really tiny feet (I wear a size five), but I was able to find inexpensive shoes at MyGlassSlipper.com. Good thing too, since they were totally stained by the end of the night.

Q So you could do without expensive shoes -- anything you had to have?
My "feel pretty" scent: Jo Malone's French Lime Blossom. I bought it just for the occasion.

Q With your look down, how did you choose the bridesmaid dresses?
I picked mushroom dresses because it was the most flattering shade -- it's warmer than gray and wouldn't wash anyone out, like yellow can.

Q What about the groomsmen, how did you pick out their look?
Brett actually chose them, but we both wanted traditional suits that didn't feel costume-y.

Q What was the overall style you were going for with your look?
I wanted a classic, timeless, elegant style with a romantic twist, and to be able to look back in 20 years and still love the choices I made.

Q Your gown is definitely elegant. Was it love at first sight?
Actually, I got two dresses -- I bought one right after I got engaged; then I decided on a black-tie affair and bought this Melissa Sweet gown.

Q How did you accessorize your new black-tie wedding gown?
With a veil (I found it online after searching in stores and never finding anything just right), a blue topaz ring (a Valentine's Day present from Mike) as my "something blue" and J.Crew sling backs that matched the dress perfectly.

Q Looking back, is there anything you would've done differently?
I probably would've picked colorful shoes, but I did love how ladylike mine were.

Q When you started your gown search, what did you have in mind?
I just wanted a look that felt timeless, classy, and festive for our New Year's Eve wedding.

Q How many gowns did you try on before you found your dress?
This strapless Pronovias gown was the first dress I tried on -- I just knew it was the one.

Q Strapless? Your gown has sleeves; did you have it altered?
Originally it was strapless, which wasn't an option (it didn't feel appropriate for my church), so my seamstress created cap sleeves.

Q Were you just as clear about your accessory choices as your gown?
I knew my shoes would be my "something blue." I picked flashier, baby blue metallic heels since everything else was so reserved.
