Q What was the overall style you were going for?A classic look that was clean and elegant.
Q You definitely achieved that with your gown. Did it have to be changed at all?
They had to cut a whole new pattern for me! I was a size smaller than the smallest size my Reem Acra gown came in! It was a challenge to refit the gown while keeping the embroidery and original design, but we pulled it off!
Q How did you choose your hairstyle?
I wanted a look that would flatter my features and could be seen from all angles. My large bun satisfied both of my wants!
Q With your look down, how did you choose the bridesmaid dresses?
Their tea-length dresses matched the style of my gown—simple on top and playful on the bottom. I also liked the A-line shape because it looks good on any body type.
Q What about the groomsmen? How did you pick out their look?
Dan chose a traditional black tuxedo in a cut similar to the suits he wears to work. We wanted the groomsmen to coordinate with him.

Q How many gowns did you try on before you found yours?
About 10. Then, a salesperson showed me a picture of an Angel Sanchez dress that had just come off the runway. When I tried it on, I immediately knew it was the one!
Q What was your favorite part about your gown?
I love the feminine look of lace peeking out over the top.
Q How did you accessorize?
Since my dress was so detailed, I wore minimal jewelry. My hair was up, though, so I went with pearl-and-diamond drop earrings to look polished. To finish it off, I wore a veil, also by Angel Sanchez, that was designed to match my dress.
Q And what about your makeup? Was that minimal too?
I don’t usually wear a lot of makeup, so I wanted to look natural, but special—a tough balance. My makeup artist did this by making my skin glow and my blue eyes pop.

Q When you started your gown search, what did you have in mind?
I wanted something that would feel timeless. I almost chose a strapless dress, but decided that style could one day be pegged to the 2000s.
Q Was it love at first sight with your lace sheath?
When I saw my Monique Lhuillier gown in The Knot, I knew it was the one before I even put it on! I tried on other dresses just to get the what-if feeling out of my head, but in the end this one was the most "me."
Q Did you have an easy time finding your shoes too?
Yeah, actually. I envisioned cute, peep-toe flats—my husband is only two inches taller than me, so I didn’t want to wear heels. I was lucky enough to find lace ones at DSW that matched my dress perfectly.
Q How did you decide on a hairstyle?
I wanted to look elegant, but effortless, and I didn’t want to wear a veil. So I had half my hair pulled up and clipped to the side with this vintage-style feather hairpiece. It matched the pattern in the lace of my gown without being too busy.
