Engagement Rings: 6 Engagement Ring Styles

From colored stones to twisted bands, check out what's new in engagement rings.

Ring designers clued us in to the hottest new engagement ring styles. A simple solitaire may be a classic (and safe) choice, but you're sure to please with these over-the-top dazzlers.

Ring Style #1: Colorful Gems

For a woman with an untraditional style, colored engagement rings are always a good bet. From pink diamond engagement rings to other colorful gemstones like beryl, sapphires, and rubies, there's a bevy of choices in pretty much any color you can think of.

Ring Style #2: Diamonds All Around

A gorgeous diamond gets lots of character from its surroundings. And these current styles drizzled with diamonds are definitely a hit among brides and designers alike. Not only do the extra diamonds add tons of sparkle, but they can enhance the size or at least give the illusion of a larger center stone. What bride-to-be (and groom too) wouldn't love that?

Ring Style #3: Intricately Raised Settings

Ring settings are really raising the bar -- elaborate and (more important) lofty designs are hot. There's nothing like a delicately draped bow or precision-cut mold to give your center stone the spotlight.

My engagement ring has a traditional diamond as a center stone, but the side stones are both diamonds and sapphires. It looks amazing, and I love it! Colored stones are definitely something any bride should consider. They're unique and you'll never have to worry about your ring looking exactly like everyone else's! Great Article! The Vintage Glamour engagement ring would be something that my fiance has. Whatever your style is, platinum is the ideal choice of metals for something as special as an engagement ring. Long after the music’s stopped, the cake is gone, and the flowers have wilted, your platinum wedding bands will be an enduring reminder of the moment you expressed your love to one another. For obvious reasons, we chose platinum. Not only is it earth's most rarest precious metals, it is 30 times more rare than gold. Unlike "white gold" rings that need to be covered with rhodium every couple of months, platinum is a naturally white brilliant luster that does not tarnish or fade. Engagement rings deserve to be in platinum!

I have a five-carat natural blue sapphire ring, surrounded by diamonds, and I love it!
