I'm petite -- 5'1". What style wedding dress will be most flattering?
Shorter-than-average brides need to be careful that their wedding dress doesn't wear them! Think simple details. A straight sheath silhouette flatters and elongates the body or, if you prefer something more traditional, opt for an A-line or princess silhouette. A silhouette that is fitted at the top and widening to a cone shape looks flattering on most body types. Another good rule of thumb is to look for a gown that has a natural waist, rather than a drop waist or an empire, which can throw off your proportions. When it comes to detailing, don’t overdo it! Keep the beading and embellishment to a minimum. Same goes for the wedding veil: Shorter brides tend to get lost beneath poufy cathedral-length veils, so you may want to stick with the chapel- or elbow-length style.
