Q.
I'm a size 20. Will I ever be able to find a beautiful wedding dress that flatters my body? I only have six months until my wedding and doubt that I'll be able to lose much weight before then. What should I do?
A.
First of all, forget the wedding diet. You have more important things to think about. Brides should eat healthfully and exercise, especially before the wedding -- can you say stress buster? -- but the D-word just creates stress. Fortunately, designers have caught on that not everyone is a size 8, and they've created some beautiful, figure-flattering wedding dresses to fit you. Not only does your dream wedding dress exist, it's available in your size! Look for gowns by designers like the Diamond Collection, Jasmine, Alfred Angelo, Jim Hjelm, and Sweetheart. These are just a few of the many designers whose wedding lines include size 20 -- and some even go up to size 44. Ask your bridal salon for details on specific designers. And, don't fret, you have terrific options!

For me, if you can find an Alfred Angelo flagship store in your area, it is THE place for a plus size girl! I bought my gown at the Whitehall PA store yesterday, and was thrilled to be able to try on dresses in and around my size (I'm a 22W.) The dress I fell in love with was actually clipped in the back because the sample was a size too LARGE! There are many great designers and stores out there, but for me I absolutely had to be able to SEE how it was going to really look on me. This store was great!

If you're an Ohio Bride, no matter what size 0-32 go to Universe Brides in Coshocton, OH. Prices are great, most expensive in the store is $1500 but has all major designers and great fabric, a million times better quality than Davids Bridal. I had the best experience, trying on dresses for 4 hours with a consultant. BTW I'm a size 22/dress size 24 and found amazingly beautiful dresses in my size. Only one dress did we hold up and see if it would look nice. I ended up with a gorgeous organza gown by Bonny

I am also a plus sized bride and I was able to find many many new styles of dresses. Designers which are plus size friendly are Alfred Angelo, Mora Lee and I personally purchased a Jai bridal dress (as far as I can tell they are Canadian only). The important thing to remember that they size dresses really small, so don't be discouraged if the size you normally take doesn't fit.

I haven't started looking for a dress yet (I have 13 months until the wedding) but I'm hoping they have sample sizes in around a 16/18.
